The Ugratara Temple is located in Ugratara village in Dadeldhura District of Nepal and dedicated to Goddess Ugratara which is also another form of Goddess Parvati. The temple is connected to Hinduism religion and one of the 9 Shakti Peeth and considered as the heritage of far-west part of Nepal. As she is the local goddess of fertility and wealth, she is very much revered by the people of the region. She is also believed in helping to bring together friends and relatives who have lost contact with each other, and to protect the villagers from natural disasters. The temple is very attractive, beautiful combination of Far-Western art and architecture.

According to local legend, the idol of the goddess was discovered when a man of the Saud family who was ploughing his field. He established a temple in her honor and became the first priest of Nepal. The temple was later renovated by Naga Malla, the King of Doti, and King Birendra also assisted in further renovation. Baisakh Purnima, Navaratri, Maghe Sakranti, and Kartik Purnima are the main festivals celebrated at the temple, and thousands of pilgrims from Nepal as well as India arrive here to worship the Goddess during these occasions.
Ugratara temple is religiously important temple of Hinduism and is also rich in its art and architecture. Because of Goddess Parvati, as the main idol of the temple, and strong belief of her devotees, people from various part of country as well as from India visit this temple with the belief of fulfillment of their wishes and healthier life.
