Hasina Wetland Sundarpur

Hasina Wetland is a natural wetland situated at an altitude of 120m located in Sundarpur VDC-6, Morang. The wetland extends approximately 48 hectares including marsh, swamp, pond and streams. Hasina Simsar Conservation Committee is working for the restoration and sustainable conservation of this wetland. This place contains various monuments of gods, temples, various species of plants and animals which is luring large number of religious tourists as it provides full pleasure to its guests. The wetland is also used picnic spot for making holiday more enjoyable as well as research and recreation center to collect some ideas from here and to make the wetland more attractive.

The climate of this area is tropical and subtropical monsoonal type. The area has maximum temperature in May and minimum temperature in January and experiences maximum rainfall in July and minimum in December. The wetland provides habitat to different species of floating and sub-merged macro-flora, various vegetation and also for many rare flora and fauna.

Many researchers come to this wetland to observe and study after various species of flora and fauna (including rare species) and get detailed information about them for their knowledge or project maybe. People also visit this place for picnic to spend their day out with their friends, families or relatives and to enjoy with nature. The wetland has got its natural beauty with more beauties added artificially.

Although the wetland is good enough for tourism, Nepal tourism board and district development committee has allocated some budget to make this place more organized and attractive. Boat launching preparation, statue of Lord Buddha from birth to death and artistic water reservoir are being in work in progress according to Ghanshyam Neupane (former president of Hasina wetland).
