Kot Danda is a beautiful place located at the height of Lalitpur in southern part of Kathmandu valley offering the gorgeous views of three cities as Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Lalitpur from the top of the hill which will surely steal your heart and mind. There lies Bishankhu Narayan Temple at the top hill. The trail to reach the place starting from Satdobato follows the way through Godawari, Hadegaun, Godamchaur, Bishankhu Narayan temple and finnay to the main destination i.e. Kot Danda. The top of the danda (hill) offers eye-catchy sceneries of green fields, villages, hills, beautiful sky at the south or fields, cities, hills, mountains beautiful sky at north.
Kot dada hike is the best choice to make to explore best opportunities of hiking around Kathmandu valley which is situated just 12 kilometers away from Satdobato. About 30 minutes of ride will lead you to reach Hadegaun. The trail follows the way to reach Godamchour and the fun of hiking starts from here following the way to straight uphill, little like forest walk with villages and the beautiful view of Kathmandu and Lalitpur. After some walk, you will reach Bishankhu Narayan temple dedicated to Vishnu (a Hindu God). The temple lies at a beautiful place with a cave which is believed to recognize good or evil. According to the story, when a Devil almost killed god Vishnu, he ran away through the cave and the devil was trapped. So, people still go through the cave for assuring or proving them not to be an evil. In about 5 minutes of walk from the temple through the forest will lead you to the main destination. Kot Danda proudly presents beautiful sceneries right next to you. As the place is located in height, of course, it will provide magnificent look to beautiful landscapes, mountains, valley and beautiful view of sky. The hill is fully surrounded by the awesomeness of beauty.
Moreover, Kot Danda is also a stunning paragliding spot within the Kathmandu valley more suitable for those wanting to practice thermal navigation but it does not mean it lacks any of the green vegetation and birds. The Kot Danda hike will be an awesome journey for travellers with spectacular views with memorable experience.
