Nelong Valley is the hill station and one of the most preferred adventurous hubs in the unfrequented region of India. This wonderful valley lies in the Uttarakshi district of Uttarakhand of India situated at the elevation of 4,235 meters from sea level. The valley used to be restricted region before 2015 and is newly opened for tourists since the Indo-China war 1962. As Nelang valley used to be Indo-China trade route, you can find an artifact of old infrastructures including Gartang Galion wooden bridge and Lal Devta Temple and the lucky one can encounter various endangered wildlife, as the valley lies in Gangotri National Park. The accessibility to visit this beautiful place is very good as it is connected with motorable roads, railways and airways too but not to the exact location via rails and airplane by the way. As the road is well accessible, there won’t be any problem as you can take the help of a taxi or bus to reach this amazing valley.
However, Nelang Valley has an attractive cold desert providing a 360-degree view of the Tibetan plateaus along with wonderful gazing landscape providing peace to your heart. The valley truly seems to be similar to Ladakh, not by the location but with the offering made by it, featuring high peaks with similar climate and landscapes. However, the entry is restricted to just a few numbers of visitors because forest department authorized vehicles a day and requires permits from Sub-divisional magistrate to make your trip here. You won’t be allowed to stay inside the valley as it falls under national park and Bhairavghati, Harsil or Dharali are considered as the best alternative for night stay.
Moreover, Nelong valley is also regarded as the Ladakh of Uttarakhand due to the fact of similar kind of offerings made by the place and is famous for a road trip, sightseeing, adventure, biking, and various related outdoor activities. The best time to visit this valley is in the month of April, May, June, September, October, and November. However, there are no shops or restaurants around the valley and is recommended to carry all the things required for you (more importantly eatable things). Furthermore, foreigners are still not allowed to visit the valley due to security concerns.
