Chisapani Gadhi

Chisapani Gadhi is the most important historical place from the historical, military, economic and political point of view located at Chisapani Village Development Committee, Makawanpur. It is located at the height of 1700m above the sea level and considered as the major bottleneck and shortest route and lifeline of Nepalese economy. It is also the gateway of Kathmandu-Chandragiri-Kulekhani-Bhimpehdi-Hetauda, Birgunj and Raxual travel route. This place is a hill on the southern slope of Mahabharat range and its place is made strong rocks and loose soil and hence no landslide is possible in this area until its natural shape is destroyed. It is a fort constructed in about 5 Ropanies of land which is surrounded by stone wall and several cannons are kept around the fort along with Kalitop in order to protect themselves from enemies and provide safety to the valley as the Makwanpur Fort.

Inside the fort, there is a temple of Batuk Bhairav, in which entry of female is strictly forbidden. Not only the temple, they are prohibited in entering the fort. According to the custom of the temple, people can only sacrifice the male animals and the priest in that temple offers two glasses of alcohol twice a week to satisfy the god Bhairab. Tundikhel is a small parade ground of Nepalese army is on the top of the plateau around the fort where volleyball can be played. There is a well reserved for drinking water which is round in shape and is believed that it was made for the punishment of culprits.

So, Chisapani Gadi is very important place to be visited from a historical as well political point of view. Moreover, it is the religious important spot of Batuk Bhairab temple as well as important from Historical and military aspects.
