Lumbini the birth place of Gautama Buddha (Siddharth Gautama Buddha), is one of the historic and spiritual sites situated at Rupandehi district of province 5 in Nepal. According to the buddism queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddharth Gautama in 563 BCE in Lumbini, Nepal. In 528 he Siddharth Gautama achieved enlightenment at the age of 35 and became the Buddha.
The Buddha taught the Four Nobel Truths ( Dukkha, Samudaya, Nirodh and Marga ), which allows people to achieve enlightenment. In Buddhism, to realize enlightenment, you must free from your ego and all desires. Having to many desires, Men condemns himself to suffering and never escape the cycle of rebirth.

Shanti deep (Flame of Peace)
Shanti deep (Flame of Peace) is symbol that Buddhism is essentially a peaceful tradition. You can ride steamer or boat over the central canal.
At Lumbini you can visit over 25 international monasteries, get meditation and study about Buddhism. Mayadevi is one of the most important temple comparing to the other temples. The building is constructed by Ashoka in 3rd century BCE.

One of the best places of Nepal to visit. I personally felt this place is one of the famous and rewarding places of our country. Sightseeing of the Mayadevi Temple was really fascinating. Other than that, sightseeing of gompas, monasteries was also very much interesting.
