Nar Phu Valley is situated between the most famous and visited Annapurna and Manaslu region and is one of the most isolated and beautiful regions in Annapurna. The valley is composed of two different villages namely Nar and Phu (which is a day of walking distance from each other) and collectively becomes a beautiful trekking route in Nepal. Nar Phu valley is also one of the restricted areas by Government of Nepal to make your journey on and requires special permission to make your trek on. Nar Phu valley is ethnically Tibetan inhabitants with the high Himalayas. The valley is naturally beautiful but due to its remoteness and sort of media promote it is still a virgin destination and including Nar and Phu, you can see Jhanum, Chhyakhu Mata and Kyang while making your trek on Nar Phu valley. This beautiful valley offers magnificent views snowcapped mountains, narrow gorges, beautiful forest, glacier and high pass of Kang la (situated at the elevation of 5,200 meters).
Nar Phu valley trek is one of the wild and unexplored areas composed of snowcapped peaks, ancient villages enriched with cultural values and high altitude grazing settlements. Trek to Nar Phu valley can be started from Koto (2,600 meters), which can be reached in around 8 hours of drive from Kathmandu valley via Besisahar. The trail from Koto follows the way towards Meta (3,560 meters) and further to Phu (4,080 meters). From Phu, you make extend your trip by hiking towards Himlung Base Camp situated at the elevation of 4,800 meters from sea level. The trail from Phu follows the way to Nar Phedi (3,490 meters), Nar Village (4,100 meters), Ngawal (3,650 meters) via Khang La Pass (5,200 meters), Pisang and finally towards Besisahar. During this whole journey, you can figure out high peaks and passes, glaciers, remote villages, narrow canyons, lovely forests, amazing rock formations, yaks, monasteries and unique Tibetan cultures.
Moreover, people living in Nar Phu Valley celebrate many festivals including Lhosar, Dherchi, and Yakchha and being Buddhist, have their own culture and traditions. The trail while trekking in Nar Phu Valley clearly shows once there used to be refugees in this area.
