Panch Pokhari is a holy lake of Hindus and Buddhists too which is composed of 5 holy lakes situated at the altitude of 4,100 meters and located northeast from Kathmandu valley in Sindhupalchowk district of Nepal at the base of Jugal Himal. This Pokhari (Pond) is the most famous and important site for Hindu pilgrimages in Nepal whose trail is situated about 100 kilometers north from Kathmandu valley. This beautiful pond is considered as the ninth highest altitude wetland throughout the world, attracting thousands of its visitors during the special occasion of Janai Purnima which falls in August. Panch Pokhari trek offers beautiful and gorgeous views of Langtang and Dorje Lakpa mountain ranges, culture, tradition and lifestyle experience of Tamang and Sherpa community and a great adventure in the end.
Panch Pokhari trek can be started from Chautara after five-hours of a drive from Kathmandu valley. Your trek follows the way to the Tibetan border which is enriched in sceneries and eye-catchy views. The follows the way through Phurse (2,045 meters), Kami Kharka (2,845 meters), Pauwa Bus (3,000 meters), Bhanjhang (3,400 meters), Nasim Pati (3,700 meters) and finally to the main destination, Panch Pokhari (4,100 meters).
