Poon Hill Trek

Poon Hill is one of the most popular viewpoints situated at the altitude of 3,210 meters from sea level lying in Annapurna region of western Nepal. It is also one of the most popular trekking destination and most famous for its early morning amazing sunrise view. From the top of the place, you can see more than 60 peaks more than 6,000 meters high including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters), Mt. Annapurna I (8,091 meters) and Mt. Manaslu (8,163 meters) which are 7th, 10th and 8th of the world’s highest peaks respectively. The views on Annapurna and Dhaulagiri are much beautiful and eye-catchy from here and it is worth to an hour-long early morning climb along stone stairs through rhododendron forest while in this area.

Poon Hill trek can be started from Nayapul which is in the distance of about one and half hour drive from Pokhara. The trekking trail passes through the beautiful villages including Ulleri (Magar Village), Ghorepani (Gurung Village), and Ghandruk (Gurung Village). Poon Hill trek, starting from Nayapul follow the trail towards Tikhedunga (1,540 meters), Ghorepani (2,810 meters) and towards Poon Hill situated at the elevation of 3,210 meters from sea level. Furthermore, the trail passes towards Tadhapani (2,700 meters), Kimchi and finally towards Pokhara Valley completing the trekking trail. The villages that you passed on the trail are inhabited by Gurungs and Magars offering you a great opportunity to explore their culture, traditions, and lifestyles. The trail is fully composed with the exciting glance of the high mountains, whole horizons from each and every corner. The viewpoint on Poonhill offers the magnificent view of mountains such as Mt. Dhaulagiri ranges, Mt. Annapurna I, Annapurna south, Annapurna (II, III and IV), Gangapurna, Lamjung Himal, Barasikhar, Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Hiunchuli, and Manaslu ranges and at early morning, eye-catchy sunrise view. The trail also passes through dense rhododendron forests full of birds and amazing valleys, which in some ways make your trip enjoyable. As the sun touches the snow-capped summits, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks along with a maze of other peaks, slowly begin to appear and seen as if like magic.
