Sagarmatha National Park is one of the UNESCO world heritage site in Nepal situated in the eastern part, dominated by the world’s highest mountain, Mt. Everest. The national park is situated in Himalayas of Nepal in the elevation varying from 2,845 meters to 8,848 meters in Solukhumbu district encompassing the area of 1,148 square kilometers. However, the national park shares the border with Qomolangma National Nature Preserve of Tibet in the north, Makalu Barun National Park in the east and extends to Dudhkoshi River in the south.
However, the national park is recognized as the most significant bird area by Birdlife International and is considered as part of the sacred Himalayan landscape. The national park contains a unique combination of forests, barren land and snow-capped peaks which houses many indigenous Sherpa and variety of animals in the region. The landscape of the national park is really dramatic in around 6,000 meters altitude above sea level, which makes up mesmerizing valleys and amazing snowy valleys in the most upper part, seem amazing and gazing. The national park is the home for various species of flora and fauna found in different elevation range, as the national park is situated in diverse elevation. Hence, you can experience and explore different kind of landscapes, flora and fauna species as per the elevation increases or decreases.
Moreover, the native inhabitants here in this region are Tibetan Buddhists Sherpas from the earlier period of time, where you can explore their unexploited cultural and traditional values. They still believe that their inseparable spiritual ties with this land and will be forever. You can observe their culture through various monasteries dotted across the region, the Mani walls, where the rocks are carved with prayer inscriptions and prayer flags that have become common with Everest and the Himalayas.
