Sikles Trek

Sikles is a beautiful village which is situated towards the north east of Pokhara at the south of Annapurna II and Lamgunj Himal in Kaski district of Nepal and is mainly famous for its preserved Gurung culture. Trekking in Sikles village offers the excellent mountain views along with the culture, tradition, and lifestyles of the local people living over there and is also considered as a great initialization or introduction to the beauty of the Annapurna range. The trail to get there is managed and conserved by Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) and the community to promote tourism in this area. The largest Gurung village having around 700 households located above the Madi Khola at the altitude of 1,981 meters from sea level, just in the central part of Annapurna Conservation Area.

Normally, Sikles trek is started from Bijayapur Khola which is just 30 minutes of drive from Pokhara valley. From Bijayapur Khola, the trail passes through Thulakot, Taprang, Lamakhet and finally to Sikles village. The trail further passes through Thumke Danda and Phedi Khola. From Phedi Khola, you can take 3 hours of comfortable drive to reach Pokhara Valley. While trekking in Sikles Village, you will see beautiful terraced fields, rhododendron forests with their gorgeous blooms, alpine pastures, and typical Gurung settlements. Similarly, you can capture the close-up view of peaks like Machhapuchhre as well as Annapurna range and magnificent views of high mountains like Annapurna (I, II, III and IV), Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, and other bordering mountains above the height of 6,000 meters. Sikles Village, lying at the altitude of 3,000 meters, faces Annapurna IV to the north and Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II to the east and this beautiful short trek goes across a variety of topography from plain villages to Nepal’s largest Gurung settlement. Nevertheless, this area is considered as an excellent destination for bird watching where diverse species of birds can be seen.
