World Peace Pagoda Pokhara Kaski

World Peace Pagoda is a Buddhist Pagoda-style monument on Anadu Hill of PumdiBhumdi (former Village Development Committee) in Kaski district of Nepal situated at an altitude of 1100 meters on the Anadu Hill. It was constructed by Buddhist monks from Japanese Nipponzan Myohoji organization as a symbol of peace. This pagoda has become tourist attraction in Pokhara and provides a panoramic view of the Annapurna range, Pokhara city and Fewa Lake. It is the first World Peace Pagoda in Nepal and seventy-first pagoda throughout the world built by Nipponzan Myohoji.

The pagoda has two tiers for tourists and spiritual guests. The other tier displays four statues of Buddha that is given as a present from different countries as, ‘Dharmacakra Mundra’ from Japan, ‘Bodh Gaya’ from Sri Lanka, ‘Kushinagar’ from Thailand and ‘Lumbani’ from Nepal where each statue represents the important events related to the Buddha and were named according to where they took place.

The hilltop provides an impressive view of Sunrise and Sunset. There are ways to reach to the pagoda with hiking trails, cycling tracks and the blacked topped road to the Stupa. One of the most popular things to do here is hiking crossing the Phewa Lake by a local boat and climbing uphill through local village. The pagoda can be reached by taxi or private car and even public transportation is also available. Dhamma hall is located near the peace pagoda where Buddhist rituals take place in daily basis and large pujas are performed on important dates such as on full moon day according to lunar calendar.
