Devghat Tanahun Nepal

Devghat is one of the holiest places in Hindu Mythology and is a famous religious and cultural center located in at the tri centre of Chitwan, Nawalparashi and Tanahun districts of Nepal. The place is also located at the junction of Trisuli River and Kali Gandaki River as well as three zones of Nepal i.e. Gandaki, Narayani, and Lumbini. It covers an area of 54.35 square kilometers lying about 7 kilometers from Narayangarh and 150 kilometers from Kathmandu. The place comprises of several caves and temples of Hindu deities with lots of natural sceneries and views of forests, wild animals, birds and Holy River holding a significant natural attraction due to its geography and climate.

Devghat Dham is a very important site from a religious point of view, which is mostly composed of several temples and caves dedicated to Hindu Gods, Goddesses, and saints. There are many caves in this area including goddess Sita’s cave, Galeshwor Ashram, Chakreshwor Shila, Basista Gufa and temples as Harihar temple, Mahesh-Sanyas Ashram, Ram Mandir, Kathastup and many other sites carrying very spiritual and religious importance. Annually, at the festival of Makar Sankranti, huge gathering (mela) is conducted which is considered to be the largest religious melas in Nepal. In addition, the place also famous for holy bathes during several religious events and festivals by Hindu people. There is oldest retirement home here with a capacity of around 150 beds operated by Devghat Development Committee. Most people living in this area are found to have much faith in Hinduism. There is also a Sanskrit school and many people come here to learn Sanskrit.

Nevertheless, Devghat trekking route is under construction which is aimed to connect other holy places and attractive places around this area.
