Manaslu is the eighth highest mountain in the world situated at the altitude of 8,163 meters above the sea level and the peak has the meaning as the mountain of spirit. Trekking in Manaslu Base Camp is one of the most popular trekking which is purely natural heaven in the rural valley trail of Nepal which lies on the border of Nepal and Tibet. This trek route was officially opened in 1992 for an adventurous trip in one of the top highest mountain region of the world, requiring some special trekking permission. Trekking in this region requires physical fitness with enough stamina, taking you from the steamy lowlands terraces through extreme Budi Gandaki gorges with its beautiful waters and wonderful waterfalls. The trail is through mountainous terrain to the consequences of monsoon rainfall and landslides.
Manaslu Base Camp is not so easy to trek to make as walking in this region is a difficult task and considered an adventurous sport. Normally, Manaslu Base Camp trek can be started from Sotikhola Bazar. The trek started from Sotikhola (750 meters) follows the trail to Machha Khola (890 meters), Jagat (1,350 meters), Pewa (1,860 meters), Lho (3,180 meters), Sama Village and finally to Manaslu Base Camp situated at the altitude of 4,800 meters from sea level. After reaching the actual destination your returning trail follows the way towards Sama Village, Namrung (2,630 meters), Philim Village (1,570 meters), Machhakhola and finally to Soti Khola. The major highlights of trekking in Manaslu Base Camp include exploration of enriched Tibetan culture and pure form of nature, closest view of Mt. Manaslu range and Himlung Peak and finally the rarest experience of trekking in the less touristic and less crowded region fully decorated with untouched natural beauties. The trek is said to be most challenging while making your walk towards Birendra Glacier Lake and towards Manaslu Base Camp.
Moreover, Manaslu Trek, being a restricted region, some special permit is required, which can be issued by a local company. Two permissions are required i.e. ACAP and MCAP for this trek and two trekkers are compulsorily required.
