Sauraha Chitwan Nepal

Sauraha is a village and most popular tourist destination located in Chitwan district of central Nepal, situated very close to Chitwan National Park and Rapti River. The place was small and sweet Tharu village with very little hotels of muds earlier but as the time passes by the village is turned into a small, quiet and peaceful town full of western style hotels and resorts, restaurants, Internet cafes, and gift shops. This beautiful place is located about 160 kilometers from Kathmandu and about 23 kilometers from Narayangarh city, Chitwan. The village is the eastern gateway to Chitwan National Park responsible for protecting Terai-Duar savanna and grasslands Ecoregion. The place has got very good road access for private or rental vehicles for traveling around.

Sauraha village is a village which is separated from the Chitwan national park by the Rapti River, which is considered to be safe for swimming. Sauraha is culturally rich with various natural sceneries and attractions offering the exploration of the place by walking for some distance along the mud roads west, north and east of the village to rural Tharu villages. All the safari activities can be done in Sauraha including Elephant Safari or Jeep Ride inside the Chitwan Nationa Park, Jungle Walk, Elephant Breeding Center, Elephant Bathing, Tharu Culture Program, Village Tour, Tower Night Stay inside the Jungle, Bird Watching and other many more activities and hence proving the real adventure activities in single spot, which can be booked from this little town (Sauraha).

However, the best time to visit Sauraha is on the dry season (November to April) because temperature and climate are not too hot and allowing for better animal spotting as the grass in National park is cut during this time. The best and adventurous things that should be done here include watching the sunset over the National Park, Elephant ride, Bird watching, Stay overnight in the jungle spotting wild animals from the lookout tower,  explore Tharu culture and tradition, jungle safari on foot, by elephant or by jeep and many other things.
