Taudaha Lake is a marvelous place to traverse in Kathmandu Valley. It is located in Kirtipur municipality of Kathmandu. Taudaha is believed to be created when Manjushree, a Buddhist Mythical character cut the hill in the valley’s south and formed few small lakes, of which Taudaha is one. The name came into existence with a blend of Newari words ‘Ta’ and ‘Daha’ having meaning Snakes and Lakes respectively.
Taudaha is a peaceful place favorable for relaxation. The view of it’s surrounding is mind-blowing. Quite a far from buzzing street of Kathmandu, Taudaha can be a perfect place to enjoy in a serene atmosphere. There are several huts made from bamboo that is established with the prime aim to serve the culinary needs of visitors. What amazes you is the fish inside the lake when they appear to the surface when someone feeds on them, the view looks astonishingly wonderful. The picturesque snow-capped mountains will lure you. It is believed that over 100 species of birds have recorded in the area, making Taudaha a fine place for bird-watching. Yes, swimming and boating in the lake are strictly forbidden as the lake is considered to be scared.
Taudaha Lake is 12.6 km away from Tribhuvan International Airport, 37 minutes of a scenic ride will fade away your tiredness. No worry if you wish to travel from Thamel, it takes approximately 32 minutes by drive. Visiting Taudaha lake while you stay in Kathmandu is an excellent choice and enjoying the serenity of Taudaha is your flavor. You will be amazed by the green scenario circumambulated the lake.

I only had a few days left in Kathmandu and I was lucky enough to have a local show me this very interesting fish infested pond. He said there was a lot of fish but there is way more… Its really nice to buy a bag of fish feed and walk around the lake to get photos and try to guess just how many fish are in there.
