Marpha is a beautiful village in Mustang district of Nepal situated at the altitude of 2,650 meters from sea level, which is also referred to as the apple capital in the country. The fact behind the name of this village, i.e. Marpha is people living in this village are very hard working people and love to spend their time working really hard. The village is identified by the traditional flat mud roofed houses with piles of firewood, which is a traditional style house that still exists in this village. Some of the unique features of Marpha include the wooden carved windows, paved alleys and long main spotless flagstones. While you are in this village, it is worth visiting the small library located at the center of the village or in the horticulture farm for more exploration about the village and history. The stone-lined pretty village has survived to the current time by feeding the trekkers and tourists who make their journey to and through this village.
However, Marpha village is the best overnight stop while trekking in Annapurna circuit, which is less crowded and peaceful touristy place in comparison to Jomsom and can be reached easily by taking a flight to Jomsom and walk from there. There are various things that will be worthy of doing in this place for better exploration and experiences in your life. One of the best things to do here is to climb stairs to the monastery and attain the daily worship ceremony, from where you can also enjoy the Birdseye view of the village. Secondly, you can visit the museum named for Japanese Zen monk Ekai Kawaguchi, which is really awesome and the house he used to live holds some of his guardianship. Marpha was the planning point of him for how he would travel to Tibet. Although Marpha village has an original Safe Water Drinking station, it now also sports numerous guesthouses and small hotels for promoting tourism to this area. However, many of the souvenir shops are run by the Tibetan refugee camp residents in this village.
Furthermore, Marpha Village trek leads you to experience various adventurous deeds, as well as enjoyable trails in the peaceful side of the country, make your journey happier and satisfiable. It will be good enough if you trek from Jomsom to Marpha which can reward yourself with brandy and pie. From Beni, you can reach Marpha in four days which follows a fully enjoyable trail in the remote side of the country.
